In the mid 2000’s a group of biopharmaceutical CIO’s and Informatics executives started a discussion regarding the implications of healthcare data standards and the emergence of electronic health records on research and development of new therapeutics.  One member of the group, industry veteran Thomas Scarnecchia, elected to step out of his role at Millennium Pharmaceuticals to launch a think tank to help address the big questions that surfaced.

As a result Digital Aurora was launched in 2005 with seven leading biopharmaceutical firms signed on and for the past 20 years it has become a key voice in defining data ecosystems and shaping the organizations and leadership needed catalyze them.   Along the way Digital Aurora played a key role architecting key public and private partnerships that set the stage for today’s real world data and evidence landscape.
